Vicko Ruić director


Birth: 1959., Split


He took a degree in acting from the Academy of Theatre, Film and Television (today Academy of Drama Arts) in Zagreb. During 1980s, he appeared in supporting roles in many films, and in the leading role in the film Najbolji (1989) by Dejan Šorak. He is the author of Nausikaja, the first independently produced Croatian film of the 1990s, and Serafin, svjetioničarev sin (based on the novel by Ulderiko Donadini), which competed at the Montreal Film Festival. In his first two films, Ruić presented himself as a follower of the tradition of highly esthetic style, with the stated goal of answering the "eternal" questions.
