Commentary:
This is the debut feature film by the former film critic Branko Ivanda. Gravitacija ili fantastična mladost činovnika Borisa Horvata is a modernist story about a young man’s everyday life and his inability to cope with life’s problems. Implicitly this film criticizes modern socialist society. This film stands out particularly because of its refined visual style and especially well-done set design. The critics accepted the film well and at the Pula Film Festival it won Golden Arenas for Best Cinematographer (together with the film I Have Two Mothers and Two Fathers) and Music, as well as the diploma for the Best Debutant Director.
