Dejan Šorak made films of different genres, but his most successful film up to now has been Oficir s ružom. It is a political melodrama that rests on the archetypal motif of Romeo and Juliet. This film’s main values are its fine visual expression and exquisite performances. However, the ending is a little bit weak, as Šorak used a dramaturgical “shortcut” instead of consistent narration and characterization.
