Synopsis:
In 1918, WW I was almost over and Austro-Hungarian Empire was falling apart. A journalist from Zagreb, Krešimir Horvat, decides to go to the country during these chaotic times, hoping to find some peace. He arrives in a village, Vučjak, where he takes a job as a teacher. He has an affair with a married woman, Marijana Margetić. There is another romantic interest, Eva, who likes the handsome newcomer. In the nearby woods, members of the so-called green cadre - the deserters - are hiding. Soon, military police arrive to the village and Horvat’s peace is at stake…
