Synopsis:
Villager Marko wants to modernize the operation of his family’s estate. He plans to sell the horses and start raising pigs in co-op. But, when Marko sells the horses, his old father tries to commits suicide. Equally shocking is his son’s decision to marry the beautiful but poor deaf-mute girl, Tereza...

Commentary:
The film gives a realistic depiction of contemporary life in a village and its conservative patriarchal mentality. It also criticizes the form of self-government in a Socialist regime. In contradistinction to Ivo Škrabalo’s negative critique in his history of Croatian cinema, this film offers a refreshing theme, competent style and solid actors. It is ranked with the most interesting of Croatian films from the 1980s.

Awards: Pula 1982 - Studio magazine’s Srebrni vijenac to the best debutant director, Kodak Pathe award to the cinematographer Ivica Rajković (also for the film Zločin u školi; together with Danijel Šukalo)
               Niš 1982 - Car Konstantin - 1st award for the best male actor to Milan Štrljić, Dvoje magazine’s award to Milan Štrljić and Ena Begović for the most erotic couple on film
